Who we are

Attention!

Some of our directors and associates may at times be committed to terms which preclude them from further solicitation. Similarly, our commitments as a company may preclude us, our directors and associates, from certain prospects. We are circumspect to observe such preclusions and to maintain clarity about it in our dealings.

Background

  • The identity of our establishment, Real, was conceived from the legacy of Mont Real, the crusader castle of which remnants are still extant in the present-day town of Shoubak, Jordan.
  • Built in 1115 AD by Baldwin I of Jerusalem, Mont Real is located above the plain of Edom along the historic pilgrimage and caravan routes from Syria to Arabia, and at the time was surrounded by fertile land and abundant water springs.
  • It was strategically well positioned for reconnaissance, defence, communication and logistics across the Levant.
  • Even centuries after it was built, it continued to be an extraordinary valuable edifice for both occupants and friendly passers-by.
Still today, the unmoved presence of Mont Real alludes to the timeless qualities it represents.

Personal Observation

I advocate that risk is the essence of economic activity, and consequently any behaviour that attempts to escape downside risk altogether will lead to the least realistic behaviour of all: doing nothing.

Taking and managing risk is the essence of success for any enterprise.

While having a keen interest in information science, technology and methodology, I maintain that Intelligence is more than a mere complexity of algorithms; presupposing a living soul.

Personal Observation

In my view – Risk management (on the flipside of the coin) is also about controlling Downside Risk as far as possible to enable the organization to maximize its Upside Risk.

Development of an organization’s Risk Policy should be a creative initiative, exposing exciting opportunities for value growth and innovative handling of threats, not a depressing task full of reticence, warning and pessimism.

Orientation

In my view – whatever the strategy – the leadership of an organization essentially has to decide what present and future upside risks (opportunities) they find worthy to pursue in the face of their accompanying downside risks (threats).

I believe there should NOT be a preoccupation with downside risk; instead: realistic management of both upside and downside risk is at the heart of business growth and wealth creation.
